Discharge

Fireworks can be discharged, between the hours of 11am and 11pm except as noted:

• July 1 – July 7  (July 4th hours extended to midnight)
• July 21 – 27  (July 24th hours extended to midnight)
• December 31  11am – 1am Jan. 1
• Chinese New Year’s Eve  11am – 1am the follwoing day

Sales

Class “C” fireworks can be sold the following dates:

• June 23 – July 27
• December 29 – December 31
• 2 days before and on Chinese Newy Yars’s Eve

At Home

• Keep flammable materials away from heat sources, Water heaters, portable heaters, etc.
• Maintain and check furnaces and water heaters
• Follow manufacturer instructions regarding appliances, portable heaters, etc.
• Do not store items in utility closets
• Make sure electrical wiring, circuits are in good repair and are not overloaded (Christmas Lights)
• Secure water heaters, other items to the wall. (Can include furniture such as bookshelves, etc.)
• Make sure your street address is clearly marked and visible from the street.
• Install and regularly check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Family

• Prepare and practice an emergency escape plan with at least two ways to get out of each room. (Practice keeping low, crawling to safety.
• Make sure you and your children have robes, shoes and other items at hand that may help them escape safely).
• Designate a safe meeting place outside the home so every one can be accounted for.
• Know and prepare for any special needs that may encumber a safe escape.

Debris Burning

• Check with your local officials to see if it is an “open burn season.”
• Inquire with your local fire chief or fire warden to see if a permit is required.
• Have a shovel and water accessible and ready to go.
• Be prepared to stay near your burn until it is out and cold.
• Notify the city or county dispatch when you are ready to ignite.

Building Safe Camp Fires

• Clear campfire site down to bare soil.
• Circle pit with rocks.
• Build campfires away from overhanging branches, steep slopes, dry grass, and leaves.
• Keep a bucket of water and a shovel nearby.
• Never leave a campfire unattended.
• When putting out a campfire, drown the fire, stir it, and drown it again.
• Always have adult supervision.
• Be careful with gas lanterns, barbeque grills, gas stoves, and anything that can be a source of ignition for a wildfire.

• • Make sure responders know where to go.
  • Make sure street address is clearly marked and visible from the street. In some situations, where safe, it may be advisable for another person to wait outside to guide emergency responders in.
